Ordination of Deacons, 22 May 2010

On 22 May 2010, Ebenezer Ntlali, Bishop of Grahamstown, ordained nine deacons in the Cathedral in Grahamstown.

Those ordained were:

Mary Botchway, St Mark Cambridge

Mzinzisi Dyantyi, a College of the Transfiguration student licensed to assist at the Cathedral;

Vic Graham, a College of the Transfiguration staff member, seen here with his family;

Nosisi Khotlo, Holy Cross Mdantsane;

Bukhosi Mabandla, of St John & St Chad, Zwelitsha;

Bubele Mfenyana, St John & St Chad, Zwelitsha.

Siphokazi Njokweni, the Cathedral;

Kazeka Somhlahlo, Holy Cross Mdantsane; and

Pat Wells from St Andrew's Bedford.

The singing was led by the Cathedral marimba group, and a choir, seen here practising before the service, consisting of members of the Cathedral and St Augustine's Choirs, led by Cathedral Organist Wilf Stout.

At the same service, new Archdeacons were installed, and two new Lay Members of Chapter.

Archbishop Ebenezer reads the licence to Paul Walter, new lay member of Chapter.

Nontobeko Moletsane is the other new Lay Canon.

The Cathedral Worship in Dance group contributed a Pentecost dance.

Bishop Ebenezer led out the new Deacons with joy,

to be congratulated by family and friends.

Mary Botchway originates from Ghana and her family showed off lovely West African style.
